Hyundai Sales August 2026 Hits Record High

Hyundai Records Strong August Performance

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) delivered a strong performance in August 2026, recording 65,796 units in total sales, including domestic sales and exports. The figure represents an 8.8% year-on-year increase compared with 60,500 units sold during August 2025. The latest numbers highlight continued customer interest in Hyundai vehicles in India, although weaker exports limited the overall growth rate.

Domestic Sales Reach Highest-Ever August Figure

The biggest highlight of Hyundai's August 2026 performance was its domestic market. The company sold 54,396 units in India, registering an impressive 23.6% year-on-year growth over the 44,001 units sold in August 2025. Hyundai described this as its highest-ever domestic sales figure for the month of August.

The strong domestic numbers demonstrate that demand for Hyundai's passenger vehicles remains healthy. Its broad portfolio, particularly SUVs, continues to attract customers looking for a combination of styling, technology, practicality and premium features.

SUVs Continue to Support Hyundai's Growth

Hyundai's SUV-focused product strategy remains an important part of its sales performance. Models such as the Creta, Venue, Exter, Alcazar and Tucson have helped the company maintain a strong presence across different price segments.

The Creta, in particular, continues to be one of Hyundai's most important products in India. Strong interest in SUVs has helped the company benefit from changing customer preferences, as Indian buyers increasingly choose utility vehicles over traditional hatchbacks and sedans.

Exports Decline Amid Global Challenges

While domestic sales delivered impressive growth, Hyundai's export business faced pressure during August. The company exported 11,400 units, compared with 16,500 units in August 2025. This represents a decline of roughly 31% year on year.

Hyundai attributed the weaker export performance to logistical constraints associated with the ongoing geopolitical situation in West Asia. Disruptions affecting shipping and international supply chains created additional challenges for vehicle exports during the month.

April-August FY2027 Sales Momentum

Hyundai's performance during the first five months of FY2027 also remains encouraging. Domestic sales during the April-August period increased by 12.6% year on year, indicating that the company's growth is not limited to a single month.

This sustained momentum could become particularly important as the Indian automotive market enters the festive season, traditionally one of the strongest periods for passenger-vehicle demand.

Hyundai Future Product Strategy

The company is also preparing for an aggressive product expansion. Hyundai Motor Company recently outlined plans for more than 100 global vehicle launches and refreshes by 2030, while India is expected to receive 26 new products as part of the broader strategy.

The upcoming products are expected to strengthen Hyundai's position across petrol, hybrid and electric vehicle segments while giving customers more choices.

What August Sales Mean for Hyundai

Hyundai's August 2026 sales results present a mixed but largely positive picture. Domestic sales of 54,396 units and 23.6% growth show that the Indian business is performing strongly. At the same time, the sharp fall in exports indicates that international logistical and geopolitical conditions remain a challenge.

Conclusion

With 65,796 total units sold in August 2026, Hyundai Motor India achieved solid overall growth while setting a new August record for domestic sales. The combination of strong SUV demand, a broad product portfolio and upcoming new models could help Hyundai maintain its momentum in the Indian market. If export conditions improve, the company could see an even stronger sales performance in the coming months.
