Maruti Suzuki Sales August 2026 Company Crosses 2.19 Lakh Units as Utility Vehicles Lead Growth
Maruti Suzuki India has delivered a strong sales performance in Maruti Suzuki Sales August 2026 , recording total sales of 2,19,220 units. The figure represents a 21.3% year-on-year increase over the 1,80,683 units sold during August 2025. Strong domestic passenger-vehicle demand, particularly for utility vehicles, played a major role in pushing the company's monthly volumes higher.
Domestic Sales Show Strong Momentum
Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales, including light commercial vehicles, reached 1,80,078 units in August 2026, compared with 1,34,050 units during the same month last year. This translates into growth of around 34%. The strong domestic performance highlights continued consumer demand for Maruti Suzuki products ahead of India's important festive buying season.
The company domestic passenger-vehicle sales alone stood at 1,76,971 units, compared with 1,31,278 units in August 2025. That represents an impressive 35% year-on-year increase, underlining the strength of the passenger-car market for India's largest carmaker.
Utility Vehicles Become Major Growth Driver
One of the biggest highlights of the August sales report was the performance of Maruti Suzuki's utility-vehicle portfolio. Models including the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6 collectively recorded 79,045 units during the month.
This was a major improvement over the 54,043 units sold in August 2025, representing approximately 46% growth. The rising popularity of SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles continues to reshape India's passenger-vehicle market, and Maruti Suzuki's expanding utility range is helping the company respond to that shift.
Compact Cars Continue Their Role
Maruti Suzuki's traditional strength in compact and mid-size cars also remained visible during August. Sales in the compact and mid-size segment, which includes popular models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, reached 77,166 units, compared with 59,597 units in August 2025.
The mini segment, including the Alto and S-Presso, also recorded growth, with sales reaching 8,799 units, up from the previous year's figure.
Exports Decline Slightly
While the domestic market delivered strong growth, Maruti Suzuki's export performance was comparatively weaker. The company exported 33,844 units in August 2026, down from 36,087 units during August 2025, representing a decline of around 7%.
Sales to other original equipment manufacturers also decreased, falling to 5,298 units from 10,346 units a year earlier. Despite these declines, the strength of domestic passenger-vehicle sales more than compensated for the softer export and OEM volumes.
FY2026-27 Sales Cross One Million
The August numbers become even more significant when viewed against Maruti Suzuki's financial-year performance. During the first five months of FY2026-27, from April through August, the company recorded total sales of 11,43,365 units, compared with 8,90,070 units in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
This represents growth of approximately 28%. Maruti Suzuki also crossed the one-million-unit cumulative sales milestone during the first five months of the financial year.

Festive Season Expectations
The August performance arrives just before the peak festive period, traditionally one of the most important sales seasons for Indian automakers. Strong demand for SUVs, compact cars and family-focused models could provide further momentum to Maruti Suzuki if consumer sentiment remains positive.
The company's broad portfolio, covering entry-level hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, MPVs and premium models, gives it an advantage in reaching customers across different price categories.
